2013 trip, West Coast

Mt. HOOD National Forest, Oregon

The Ramona Falls hike at Mt. Hood has been my FAVORITE hike so far! Pictures can never convey just how gorgeous the forest is—straight out of a fairytale! Also, I think my calling may be to take over Mt. Hood national forest to correct some logistical and design issues: we discovered “open” campgrounds were actually closed after driving 20 miles out of the way to get to them, the campgrounds that were open didn’t have proper systems in place, and the trail maps and signs need serious design help. Mt. Hood is a clear example of the poor funding forests receive as opposed to parks—it’s just so beautiful that I want everyone to enjoy it without the little glitches we hit.

Mt. Hood National Forest lived up to its name—amazing!
